Aftercare

Aftercare:

Leave your tattoo covered with the bandage for a minimum of 3 hours.

Remove bandage in approx. 3 hours, it can be longer dependant on what you are doing. Gently wash/rinse your tattoo with a clean hands and warm water (no soap) and remove any blood or discharge. Pat dry with a clean cloth, don't rub.

Do not re-bandage, but let the tattoo breathe. Check your tattoo every few hours for the next 24 hours, washing your tattoo ONLY if it has crusted with discharge or blood again. Do nothing else but wash your tattoo (if needed) for the first 24 hours or so, do NOT apply any aftercare product yet!

AFTER 24 to 48 hours your tattoo should of started to dry out, and ONLY  if needed you can start to apply a small amount of an aftercare product. The ONLY reason for applying product is to keep your tattoo from cracking and feeling tight.  Remember your skin needs to breathe so use just a very very small amount.

I recommend applying and using my product called TaT-Dew as it is all 100% pure and natural. Do not use POLYSPORIN as there is no need for an antiseptic/antibiotic or any medicated ointment if you follow the instructions. Do not use anything with comfrey or lanolin in the product as they may irritate and heal the tattoo poorly.

You want to apply a very, very, small amount of the product by first dispersing it into clean hands, then applying it by lightly dabbing it onto your tattoo and letting the product soak in. Do not rub it in, and when you apply the product wipe downward as to not push the product up into the pours.  Do this Only 1 to 2 times per day, no more.

Remember you want to let your tattoo breathe. Keep your tattoo clean from dirt and dry now.

Do not let any item of clothing rub or irritate your tattoo as this can cause irritation or infection.

Avoid touching your tattoo without washing your hands first.

No soaking in water or swimming as you do not want your tattoo to get soft and mushy as this can also increase your chance of infection, irritation and loss of colour.

Please avoid direct sun on your tattoo to avoid sunburn.

Apply the product once a day everyday for 2 weeks.

**If you have any concerns after getting your tattoo i.e. starts to weep, a thicker scab starts to form and looks really dry, is really red or really hurts, etc...you may have irritated your tattoo somehow...

VERY IMPORTANT!!!
Do not listen to friends, family, co-workers or any other know it all on how to take care of your new ink, they are NOT tattoo artists so contact the studio if you have ANY concerns.

In 3 to 5 days your new tattoo will start to peel a thin layer of skin (like a sunburn would peel) and the colour will start flake off. This is a normal process, do not panic.

IMPORTANT!!
Do not pick off the skin or you will lose colour.

Usually it will heal for most in about 7 to 10 days, 2 weeks maximum.

Enjoy your new ink!
